Cookies at the Fair!
What can I say? The best state fair in the Midwest is the Minnesota State Fair! Where else can you get a full variety of food on a stick, four dozen cookies over flowing in a plastic pail, an art gallery and a science hall that would make a world’s fair exposition jealous! Lol…. All I can say is once you go, you know!
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Wisconsin State Fair and have loved it since my childhood, but there just isn’t a comparison between these two states I love so much when it comes to a State Fair. Yes a cream puff is essential at Wisconsin State Fair and the overflowing bucket of Sweet Martha’s cookies at the Minnesota State Fair is a right of passage. Both features at the fair venue’s require a ton a planning, supplies and human labor. But not having either one at either fair, would make those state fair experiences incomplete. The scale of the Minnesota fair is several day’s worth of discovery. Wisconsin State fair is a day of exploration at best. But if you want to raise the bar of your state fair experience and you live with-in reach of Minnesota, you wouldn’t regret trying this fair…unless you eat the Thankgiving dinner in a bowl. I can’t be responsible for that gastric mistake. Lol.
The photo above is just one of many streets that the Minnesota State fair has. There isn’t a day in the week that isn’t crowded. Everyone in Minneapolis/St. Paul want’s to be at the fair every year. It’s truly a family affair. Best to take transport to the fair, because parking at the fair is virtually impossible unless you get there way before the morning begins.
If you enjoy horticulture, science, 4H projects, chocolate chip cookies, cuisines from all walks of life, art, lots of amazing things to buy, Swedish culture and whole exhibit just on Christmas Trees, then this is the fair for you! Don’t plan anything else for the day and stay hydrated. Bring lots of cash too. Have a transportation plan. There are 7 different bus transit park-in-ride solutions through out the twin-cities. There is even one right across the street from the Mall of America.
I know I’m making this a yearly tradition. It’s also the last two weeks of August and ends of Labor Day. Great way to conclude the summer with add excitement!
Please enjoy my video short below of the Minnesota State Fair in 2025!
Once again, thanks so much for taking the time to read my blog! I kind of got caught up in making video content in 2025 and forgot to keep my blog up to date. I’m gradually working on that and there is so much to catch you up on!
Have you been to the Minnesota State Fair? If so what’s your favourite memory? What’s your favourite state fair by you and what makes it special?
